Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United States. In 2001, she launched The Corcoran Group in New York City. She sold the business to NRT for $66 millions. Then, shortly after she resigned from the business. Corcoran is one of ABC’s first Shark Tank investors. Since her inception she has appeared in every seasons of Shark Tank. In February of 2020 Corcoran had signed 53 deals, the biggest being a $350,000 investment that was able to cover 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second in a family of 10 kids, and was raised in Edgewater. Florence Corcoran's mother was a housewife. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. moved from job to job throughout Corcoran's early years. At times, the family depended on free food delivery from a friendly local grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father being a drunkard who sometimes treated her mother with condescension and disrespect, especially after the fact that he was drinking. Corcoran was a troubled student throughout school. Corcoran later found out that she had dyslexia. Corcoran went to a Catholic primary school within her neighborhood and started the high school year in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran who was in the process of failing numerous classes in her first year of high school, was transferred to Leonia High School. There she was awarded a D.
